What to do with military housing? By HILARY BENTMAN Bucks County Courier Times (PA) April 5, 2008 While the state decides if any portion of the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Horsham will be turned over to locals for redevelopment, a 52-acre property seven miles away likely will be. Shenandoah Woods, a 199-unit military housing development in Warminster and 2.5 acres in Ivyland with six homes, may be the only land deemed surplus and eligible for reuse, after the Navy leaves town in 2011. One group has its eye on the land, which is ruffling some feathers. The nonprofit Bucks County Housing Group has proposed using the properties for affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families, and housing for its homeless and social service programs. ...
