Former bombing sites pose health and safety risks BROOKE EDWARDS Victorville Daily Press (CA) April 7, 2008 Several abandoned bombing targets may pose a risk to health and safety. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently finished routine investigations at five World War II practice bombing ranges, located in unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. The final reports all state that there's no need for immediate clean-up. But with easy access to partially exploded debris and the potential for contamination to the air and groundwater, researchers have requested further investigation. At Victorville Precision Bombing Range No. 8, the studies found fuzes and light explosives still on site. ...
