Nassau open to ideas for Bethpage Grumman site BY WILLIAM MURPHY Long Island Newsday (NY) June 9, 2008Nassau County formally asked for proposals Monday for the redevelopment of 105 acres of old Grumman property in Bethpage, and said it was open to all ideas, not just the technology park being pushed by County Executive Thomas Suozzi. Suozzi said at a Mineola news conference that he wanted to develop "a high-tech campus that will serve to help brand the property, and Nassau County, as a center for homeland security and defense, alternative energy, medical, software, biotech, and nano technology ..." ...The site is one of the largest swaths of available property in the county, but it was badly contaminated during decades of industrial use, and the county has yet to take title from the U.S. Navy to 9 acres that have not been completely decontaminated. ...
