Unexploded ordnance removal continues at Tobyhanna State Park Pocono Record July 16, 2008Work to remove dangerous, unexploded military munitions from areas in Monroe County will continue this summer through the joint efforts of the Department of Environment Protection and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This year's work, which began July 7, is focusing on areas inside Tobyhanna State Park. In previous years, DEP's Hazardous Sites Cleanup Program and the Army Corps have worked together to search and remove munitions from the park, nearby state game lands, and adjacent private property. In 2007, DEP worked to remove munitions from communities along the park's northern boundary. ...
