Proposed encroachment ordinance seeks to protect lives, potential for growth

Striking a balance between protecting Vance Air Force Base's airspace 
with protecting Enid's potential for economic growth is the primary 
impetus behind a series of proposed changes in city zoning laws.

Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, at its July 21 meeting, 
recommended an ordinance amending the city's Airfield Environs Overlay 
District.

The ordinance would make three key changes in the part of Enid's 
municipal code governing the overlay district, adopted in 2003 after the 
most recent Air Installation Compatible Use Zone Study for Vance was 
released by the Air Force.
