Air Force preparing to demolish historic building By JAMES HANNAH Associated Press Writer Akron Beacon Journal (OH) August 8, 2008A World War II-era building where Air Force researchers helped design and develop the first anti-gravity suits for pilots and early NASA spacesuits is facing the wrecking ball. The Air Force is moving to demolish Building 55 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base because it cannot find a mission for the structure, doesn't have the money to maintain it and needs to tear it down to remove contaminated soil underneath.
