Leakages From USFK's Oil Pipeline Contaminated Soil By Kim Sue-young Korea Times August 14, 2008South Korea is expected to outlay billions of won to clean up contamination caused by oil leakages from a former pipeline of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) which penetrated the country, according to the South Korean Army Thursday. The 458-kilometer Trans-Korea Pipeline (TKP) was built by the USFK between 1969 and 1970 to provide its base camps with petroleum. Even though the U.S. Army had benefited from the facility for nearly two decades, Seoul alone will likely shoulder financial burdens as it was handed over ownership in 1992. ...
