Guard has issues with revised Camp Blanding ordinance But area residents thank county officials for hearing their views By BETH REESE CRAVEY My Clay Sun/Florida Times-Union August 28, 2008A compromise Clay County ordinance to protect Camp Blanding from incompatible land uses has cleared one hurdle - the County Commission - and now must pass muster with the state Department of Community Affairs. The commission approved the ordinance Tuesday, after months of negotiation among county planners, neighboring landowners and the Florida National Guard, which runs the state-owned 72,500-acre military reservation. Neighbors said they were satisfied with the final version of the ordinance, which did not include a controversial 3-mile buffer zone around the camp that they viewed as a violation of their property rights. ...
