Lawyers blamed for slow Fort Meade cleanup Holdup comes as EPA, DoD attorneys argue By JOSHUA STEWART Annapolis Capital (MD) August 31, 2008A decade after parts of Fort George G. Meade were added to a list of the country's most serious environmental hazards, Army officials say there is a misperception that the installation is dragging its feet on the cleanup. "You may have gotten the impression that Fort Meade is either dragging its heels in regards to taking action on contamination or doing nothing. And that could not be further from the truth," Gary Zolyak, the fort's attorney said to reporters at a luncheon last week. Four parts of the fort were added to the national Superfund cleanup list in 1998 after six years worth of pressure from environmental officials.
