Textron money offered By George Brennan Cape Cod Times (MA) October 16, 2008SANDWICH - About 50 people, most of them town officials from Upper Cape towns, listened last night as guidelines were set for spending $1 million received in a settlement with a defense contractor. The state will begin accepting proposals for the so-called Textron money next month. Textron, a defense contractor that tested munitions on the Massachusetts Military Reservation, admitted responsibility for some of the pollution contaminating groundwater beneath the base. Dale Young, director of the state's Natural Resources Damages agency, said projects must "restore, replace or acquire the equivalent of groundwater resources" to be eligible for the Textron money. Priority will be given to projects that can be completed using the settlement money, she said. ...
