Dec. 9 public hearing planned on next phase in Hillsborough depot plan By PAMELA SROKA-HOLZMANN Scarlet Scuttlebutt (East Brunswick, NJ) November 30, 2008The Township Committee has approved the next step for the redevelopment plan for the General Services-Belle Mead Depot, introducing an ordinance to transform the depot into a park and recreation area, with portions of the property zoned for research and development. ...The redevelopment plan is necessary for the township to apply for a state brownfields grant to clean up the environmentally compromised property. The plan addressesg low levels of surface soil contamination caused by railroad ballast, and oil used to control dust on the site.
