Cleanup methods suggested for former Wyle Laboratories site By ALICIA ROBINSON Riverside Press-Enterprise (CA) December 22, 2008Cleaning up contamination at the former Wyle Laboratories in Norco may require at least six different types of treatment and could take up to 30 years to achieve full effectiveness, according to information from the state agency heading cleanup efforts. An environmental firm hired by Wyle suggested a set of cleanup methods to address pollution left behind by the lab, which tested aerospace and defense products for 47 years until it closed in 2004. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control, which is overseeing the cleanup, recently signed off on the review of cleanup methods and now awaits a final plan for removing contamination. A spokeswoman for a community advisory group on Wyle issues said residents so far seem "very pleased" with the proposal.
