Fish consumption advisory issued for Cherokee County Joplin Globe (MO) January 5, 2010People in Cherokee County should refrain from eating shellfish from some bodies of water and any aquatic life from Horseshoe Lake in the Mined Lands Wildlife Area. The information is included in the annual fish consumption advisory issued by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. People should avoid eating any aquatic life from Horseshoe Lake, located in units 22 and 23 of the Mined Lands Wildlife Area because of perchlorate contamination. ...
