Norco to consider buying the former Wyle lab site By LESLIE PARRILLA Riversie Press-Enterprise January 18, 2010City officials are expected to discuss Wednesday purchasing contaminated land that formerly housed Wyle Laboratories. Land owner EnviroFinance Group, of Sacramento, is asking the city to consider buying the land, and delay rezoning it for 90 days, in exchange for giving the city exclusive negotiating rights. ...The 429-acre property on Hillside Avenue had been used to test defense and aerospace products from 1959 until 2004, when it closed. Community concerns led to testing after the property was sold to a developer who planned to build homes there. The tests found known and suspected cancer-causing contaminants, contaminated soil, groundwater and vapor that travel up through the ground, pesticides, heavy metals and suspected carcinogens perchlorate and tetrachloroethylene, or TCE. ...
