Arden Hills nixes TCAAP annexation
Council agrees that regional discussion may be in order

ARDEN HILLS - The Arden Hills City Council made it clear in a Feb. 1 
special meeting by a 4-1 vote: it's not about to annex the former Twin 
Cities Army Ammunition Plant property to any other entity, including the 
city of Shoreview.

The dissenting vote came from Mayor Stan Harpstead, who said the council 
made the blanket statement without "any presentation to the council as 
to the pros, cons, benefits or costs to the residents of Arden Hills."

Still, council members didn't close the door on hearing what other 
municipalities have to say on development of the 585-acre site. They 
unanimously approved a second motion that "we support joint 
information-sharing, planning and possible joint powers meetings of 
multiple cities regarding discussion of the regional significance of the 
development of the TCAAP property."
