PCB tests of contaminated former Arsenal site may begin in spring By Jen Thomas Wicked Local Watertown (M A) March 5, 2010WATERTOWN - Another round of field studies on the contaminated former Arsenal site should begin by the spring, if all goes as planned. During a Tuesday night stakeholders' meeting, representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - which owns the property at 670 Arsenal St. and is responsible for the site's cleanup - and a local environmental consulting firm told residents they hoped to begin testing for contamination by May 3. MACTEC Engineering and Consulting will conduct soil and sediment testing to determine the extent of polychlorinated biphenyl - or PCB - contamination. The samples will also be tested for dioxin, a family of toxic environmental pollutants. ...
