Riley OKs $1B Redstone TIF

Work can begin in spring on massive office site with city, developer as partners

MONTGOMERY - Gov. Bob Riley has cleared the way for construction to begin this spring on a proposed $1 billion office park at Redstone Arsenal.

Riley signed into law legislation that will permit the City of Huntsville to create a partnership with a Montgomery company to build the massive office park using a tax-increment financing district to provide money for public improvements for the development.

The new law takes effect immediately.

The development will help Huntsville house new contractors expected to move here behind several military commands that are relocating here because of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure decisions, and perhaps future BRACs, Riley said.
