Naval Station Ingleside reverts to Port By Gregg Sanford Ingleside Index (TX) April 28, 2010Last Friday morning, Captain Leland "B.T." Taylor, the commanding officer at Naval Station Ingleside for the past 24 months, ceremoniously handed over the keys to the property to Mike Carrell, chairman of the Corpus Christi Port Commission. In proceedings that lasted almost an hour, dignitaries from the navy, the port, and congress lauded the presence the base made in Ingleside. From the groundbreaking in 1988 to the final days leading to the base closure, everyone commented on the positives the base has brought to the area. ...
