Cheyenne's water will be TCE free By Jodi Rogstad Wyoming News May 30, 2010CHEYENNE -- A new system will be up and running as early as summer 2011 to remove an industrial solvent from the city's water supply, the office of U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., reports. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to build a state-of-the-art treatment system to bring the trichloroethylene level to zero, according to a release. Barrasso praised the decision, saying Wyoming taxpayers won't have to foot the bill. "Families who live in Cheyenne deserve access to clean, safe water throughout their community," he added. Back in 1997, tests picked up traces of an industrial solvent in the city's wells west of the city. ...
