DOE Community Outreach Scorecard: ECA Rates DOE's Outreach Efforts

Energy Communities Alliance Bulletin

In February 2009, ECA met with newly appointed Secretary of Energy, 
Steven Chu, to provide him with a list of local government priorities 
for the new Obama administration.  ECA explained that one of the top 
priorities for the new administration should be continuing to engage 
local communities and governments in the DOE decision making process. 
ECA recommended that DOE and NNSA should continue to interface with 
local governments when developing programmatic proposals in order to 
educate interested parties and avoid mistrust and potential controversy. 
 ECA also recommended that DOE should proactively engage local 
governments and seek their input on important issues regarding DOE 
activities.
