Willow Grove Naval Air Station land ready for next phase

After years of meetings and plans regarding the Navy’s property at the 
Willow Grove Naval Air Station, Horsham Township Manager Michael McGee 
said the property could be declared surplus by the end of the week at 
Horsham Council’s regular meeting Sept. 8.

The declaration of surplus, McGee said, comes more than four years after 
it was anticipated in June 2006.

Following an official declaration, McGee said the Horsham Lane Reuse 
Authority, comprising representatives from townships in Montgomery and 
Bucks counties, Hatboro-Horsham School District and Montgomery County, 
will begin the process of constructing a redevelopment plan.

The first step, McGee said, would be advertising the available property 
and scheduling an outreach meeting with homeless providers.
