Removal of jet fuel line at former Floyd Bennett Naval Air Station begins Empire State News September 13, 2010NEW YORK - Contractors working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District will begin removing a jet fuel pipeline at the former Floyd Bennett Naval Air Station in Brooklyn Monday as remediation efforts continue at the Formerly Used Defense Site. Cabrera Services of East Hartford, Conn., was awarded $2.1 million carry the work out, which will consist of identifying the jet fuel pipeline, clearing utilities, exposing and removing the pipeline, checking soil samples and performing remediation as needed. The work at the site is expected to last approximately two weeks. ...
