HUD approves depot homeless plan Leftovers from Army will go to the needy By DEAN BRICKEY East Oregonian October 30, 2010Officials of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have approved the homeless plan for the Umatilla Chemical Depot. Bill Hansell, co-chairman of the depot's Local Reuse Authority, shared the news Thursday after receiving a letter from a HUD official. The Wednesday letter from Mark Johnston, HUD's deputy assistant secretary for special needs, said the Umatilla plan complies with federal law and regulations. "The Umatilla Army Depot Local Redevelopment Authority may now move forward...," he said. ...
