Concord creates new redevelopment area at former Naval Weapons Station By Paul Thissen Contra Costa Times (CA) April 6, 2011CONCORD -- The city will form a new redevelopment area at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station, a move that could direct $555.6 million to development projects there over the next 45 years. The City Council voted 4-0 for the redevelopment plan Tuesday night. Vice Mayor Ron Leone abstained from the discussion and vote because he lives near the base. The redevelopment agency is essential because of the cleanup and infrastructure construction that will be needed at the site, according to the city. ...
