Airport authority discusses chemical plume

Salina Airport Authority board members had plenty to discuss -- some  
behind closed doors -- at their Wednesday board meeting, but not much  
action was taken or information divulged.

In a closed session, Greg Bengtson, legal counsel to both the city of  
Salina and airport authority attorney, reviewed legal strategy and  
tactics with the board on the Salina public entities' federal lawsuit  
filed May 27.

The city of Salina, airport authority, Salina School District and  
Kansas State University at Salina are in a multiyear battle to get  
the U.S. Department of Defense to pay to clean up pollutants it left  
behind during 24 years of operating the former Schilling Air Force Base.
