KAFB officials say it could take 2 years to clean up jet fuel
contamination
By Eddie Garcia, KOB Eyewitness News 4 (Albuquerque, NM) October 19, 2011A Kirtland Air Force Base official is saying it will be another two years until they can form a game-plan to tackle the jet-fuel contamination in the city's southeast side. The information came out at a water authority meeting.The city councilor who represents that area said that is unacceptable and cleanup needs to be happening now. Councilor Rey Garduno is not blaming Kirtland for the two-year time table, but the New Mexico Environment Department which he said is changing the way this problem is being addressed - for the worse. ...
