Fort to begin transition to private ownership FMERA and Army to split proceeds of land sale BY MIKE DAVIS Atlanticville (NJ) December 15, 2011TINTON FALLS - Within 18 months, residents can expect to call the bulk of Fort Monmouth private property. The contract between the U.S. Army and the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) states that as many as 563 residential units and 1.7 million square feet of office and retail space could be realized on the fort property. ..."If the Army is unable to clean up a particular area to the appropriate standard, then the deed will note a stipulation that the property is being sold subject to the contamination.
