Military cleanup of Camp Ellis to be discussed

IPAVA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will hold an informational, public meeting to discuss the upcoming Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study for the former Camp Ellis Military Reserve site in Fulton County, according to a press release from Louisville, Ky.

The Louisville District (in Kentucky) manages the Former Camp Ellis FUDS project. USACE is working with private contractors to respond to the munitions contamination at the Former Camp Ellis and the risks associated with human exposure to munitions.

According to Daily Ledger files, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also held a public meeting in November 2004 at VIT Community School to discuss cleanup of World War II-era military ordnance at the Camp Ellis area. All of the property was then privately owned. About 75 persons attended the meeting.
