No timetable for re-opening of Wickaninnish dunes Andrew Bailey Westerly News (BC) May 17, 2012Parks Canada and the Department of National Defence (DND) held a joint information session on Wednesday evening at Tofino's Ecolodge regarding the closure of the Wickaninnish Sand Dunes. There were two people in the audience.As was recently reported in the Tofino-Ucluelet Westerly News, the dunes have been closed to the public due to the discovery of an unexploded explosive ordinance (UXO) in February. The dunes are considered a legacy site, which refers to a site that was either owned, leased, or used by DND and that no longer resides within DND's territory ...
