Schilling cleanup moves a step closer By TIM UNRUH Salina Journal (KS) May 16, 2013 Actual cleanup at the former Schilling Air Force Base is still years away, but that goal is getting closer. A federal judge has approved a consent decree -- a joint settlement agreement between Salina Public Entities and the United States of America -- that continues the process of ridding the former base and areas around it of contamination. The contamination won't be gone anytime soon, said Tim Rogers, Salina Airport Authority executive director.
