By Kathy Jefcoats Clayton News Daily (GA) August 29, 2013 FOREST PARK - Contaminated groundwater at a former U.S. Army base won't hinder Forest Park's plans for redevelopment. The contamination isn't news to city leaders, who have been working with the federal government on plans to clean up the area before commercial and industrial businesses set up shop inside the 1,170-acre facility. The city is poised to buy the former base, which opened Atlanta Quartermaster Depot in 1941, for about $30 million.
