Pearce: Study shows SunZia transmission line needs to move
Congressman said a business' bottom line shouldn't endanger national  
defence

U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce, whose district includes Lincoln  
County, said during a conference call that an M.I.T. Lincoln  
Laboratory study shows a proposed SunZia transmission line would be  
harmful to the missions of White Sands Missile Range and Holloman Air  
Force Base.

The study, released Monday, "well validated" the concerns of the  
Department of Defense, Pearce said Tuesday.

Pearce said when he was elected to his second term, representatives  
of SunZia met with him to discuss the company's plan to run the line  
north of Corona, west and then down through the southern part of New  
Mexico and west again through Arizona to the West Coast.
