Investigators are studying groundwater contaminants in west Cheyenne Wyoming Tribune Eagle April 28, 2014CHEYENNE -- Federal officials are still trying to determine the exact extent of a plume of contaminated groundwater that was caused by a 1960s-era missile site located west of Cheyenne. Representatives with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told members of the public on Thursday that they are still continuing the multi-year efforts to monitor, contain and treat the contaminated groundwater that extends from Belvoir Ranch to about 10 miles to the east of the site. Investigators discovered the presence of trichloroethylene, or TCE, in the area during the 1990s. It was determined that spilled chemicals that were used to clean the silo had leaked into the soil and groundwater. ...
