Environmental experts gather as Schilling project moves forward

Those involved in mapping a plan to someday clean up contamination in  
and around the former Schilling Air Force Base staged a media event  
Friday.

In an old hangar, a technician drilled into a concrete floor where an  
air and vapor collection device can be installed to collect soil  
gases to determine levels of pollution.

"It’s the first hole we’ve drilled," said Matt Schroeder, senior  
environmental engineer for Dragun Corporation of Farmington Hills, Mich.
