U.S. Army responds to New Brighton water lawsuit

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. – A spokesperson with the U.S. Army said the  
branch has tried several times to resolve issues linked to a 1988  
settlement with the city of New Brighton.

On Wednesday, the city asked a federal court to force the Army to  
keep a promise it made decades ago.

In contrast to Lotter's claims, Dave Foster, with Army Public  
Affairs, told KARE 11 in a written statement on Friday that "the U.S.  
Army is pleased with the city's operation of the plant for the past  
26 years and has no intention of reducing or changing the city's  
control or autonomy in operating the NBCGRS to treat and distribute  
water to its residents."
