Private wells near Pease test negative for contamination By Jeff McMenemy Seacoast Online (NH) October 8. 2014PORTSMOUTH - Water samples taken from seven private wells located near the Pease International Tradeport have tested below the Environmental Protection Agency’s provisional health advisory levels for perfluorinated compounds, according to a press release from the U.S. Air Force. The news comes about two weeks after Air Force testing on a private well in Newington concluded that it had perfluorinated compounds - which the Environmental Protection Agency has classified as a contaminant of emerging concern - above the provisional health advisory levels. The compounds, commonly called PFCs, are a family of chemicals used in industrial and commercial items, including electronics, fabrics, and non-stick cookware. ...
