LSU-S professor warns Camp Minden open tray burn could cause cancer,

In less than two weeks, the state and EPA will decide which company is responsible for the disposal of them.? The EPA wants it to be done in an open tray burn, but nearby residents are worried about the by-products that could be released into the air and how it will affect their health. On December 3, 2014, the Environmental Protection Agency performed a test burn of 1,200 pounds M-6 propellant at Camp Minden. The EPA said the purpose of the test was to study how the material burns as wells a determine air monitoring requirements. However, Brian Salvatore, an organic chemistry professor at LSU-S, said they did not study what is most important, the by products in the smoke. ...
