Please join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, February 5 for two presentations on the use of acoustic methods for the detection and classification of underwater munitions. First, Dr. Joseph Bucaro (EXCET, Inc. and the Naval Research Laboratory) will discuss the use of sonars to search for, detect and classify unexploded ordnance (UXO) in underwater environments. He will be followed by Dr. Kevin Williams (University of Washington) who will provide a perspective on ongoing efforts associated with low frequency acoustic scattering of underwater UXO and its use in classification. The January 22, 2015, event in the SERDP and ESTCP webinar series will feature three presentations on the use of sustainable materials for Department of Defense (DoD) weapons systems and platforms. First, Dr. Andrew Guenthner (Air Force Research Laboratory) will provide a brief overview of isocyanate-free solid rocket motor propellant binders inspired by nature. He will be followed by two detailed technical presentations. Dr. Benjamin Harvey (Naval Air Warfare Center) will discuss the use of cyanate ester composite resins derived from renewable polyphenol sources and Dr. John La Scala (U.S. Army Research Laboratory) will focus on environmentally friendly high performance bio-based polymers for DoD applications.
