WWII Ft. Rousseau site due for cleanup Army Corps of Engineers taking public comment By TOM HESSE Sitka Sentinel (AK) June 29, 2015 SITKA - An old landfill site on the Fort Rousseau Causeway is pegged for a major cleanup. The Army Corps of Engineers is currently taking public comment on a proposed action for the area. As a World War II era military installation, Fort Rousseau qualifies for remediation under the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) program, which cleans up contaminants left over from old military structures. ...
