Military noise overlay zone spurs anti-war protest at assembly meeting By Amanda Bohman Fairbanks News-Miner (AK) December 11, 2015 FAIRBANKS - A new noise overlay zoning classification recognizes the cha-cha-cha of military helicopters or the boom of small arms fire near the military bases. It passed easily before the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly on Thursday despite lively protests from peace activists concerned about community leaders supporting war by going along with the military mission. “It’s been stated that this is necessary to keep us citizens from encroaching on the military’s mission,” peace activist Rob Mulford said. “This is what encroachment sounds like,” he said.
