Navy cleaning up gas leaked at station

BREMERTON — The Navy next month will begin removing gasoline that leaked into soil and groundwater at a gas station in The Landings - formerly Jackson Park housing complex.

Tetra Tech, with an office in Poulsbo, has been contracted for the $7 million job. The project is expected to be completed in 2018, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest spokeswoman Leslie Yuenger said.

A Navy Exchange convenience store opened at Dowell and Haven roads in March 1980. The gas station was added the next year.
