Due to contamination concerns, residents of Security, Widefield and Fountain urged to test wells By Jakob Rodgers Colorado Springs Gazette March 27, 2016 Location of the Widefield Aquifer from The Widefield Aquifer Management Program presentation. Public health officials are urging private well owners in Security, Widefield and Fountain to test their water amid concerns that firefighting and carpet chemicals have contaminated the area's aquifer. A contractor expects to begin testing the wells late next week for perfluorinated compounds - human-made chemicals that could cause several health problems with prolonged exposure.
