Second agency to study cancer rates around bases in Bucks, Montgomery counties By Kyle Bagenstose Intelligencer (PA) May 26, 2016 Two health agencies now are trying to determine if the cancer rate is higher than expected in three communities in Bucks and Montgomery counties with tainted public and private drinking water wells. The Pennsylvania Department of Health has begun investigating cancer rates in communities surrounding three current and former military bases, a health department official said at a Thursday meeting hosted by state Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, R-12, of Upper Moreland. Word of the state study comes less than two weeks after the U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry confirmedit also is looking at cancer rates in the 18974, 18976, 19002, 19040 and 19044 ZIP codes, which include Horsham, Warminster and Warrington.
