$1M in Michigan budget to address toxic PFC plumes in Oscoda

LANSING, MI - State and federal dollars are headed north to help Oscoda residents with toxins in their wells from Wurtsmith Air Force Base connect to safe water.
Included in Michigan's $55 billion fiscal 2017 budget, signed June 29 by Gov. Rick Snyder, is $1 million for state agencies to dig monitoring wells, distribute in-home filters and connect Oscoda Township residents with private wells to municipal water.

The money, a line item added as a supplemental to the 2016 budget (making the funds available this year) follows a $100,000 special appropriation from the legislature in May to provide reverse osmosis filters to affected homes.
