PFC groundwater plume from base crosses Van Etten Lake, heading east by Karen Rouse Iosco County News Herald (MI) September 21, 2016 OSCODA – The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) confirmed residential wells located east of Van Etten Lake in Oscoda are contaminated with perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs). The news makes this the third known plume of PFC-laden ground water originating from the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base (WAFB) in the ever evolving discovery. The information was confirmed by David Kline, DEQ Superfund section chief. He said the list of wells testing positive for PFCs has expanded to include a number located east of Van Etten Lake. The farthest known to date is a well west of US-23 and south of Interlake Drive. ...
