Remediation underway for Atlas Missile Site 3 east of Cheyenne by Matt Murphy Wyoming Tribune October 27, 2016 BURNS - The first phase of a cleanup project at the Atlas “D” Missile Site 3 east of Cheyenne is installed, but it will be about a year before it’s known if the method is working. As a result, a plume measuring almost 1.5 miles long, 2,000 feet wide and 180 feet thick extends to the southeast of the site. TCE was used to clean missile engines after they were fueled during readiness exercises. Remaining TCE was drained outside to burn pits, which is how it came into contact with soil. … For the entire article, see http://trib.com/news/state-and-regional/remediation-underway-for-atlas-missile-site-east-of-cheyenne/article_aa9a6d88-2fc9-55f0-a142-f9b2bd05e1d0.html -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice/Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/military-cpeo.org | |
