Hunters Point Whistleblowers Expose More Alleged Fraud In Connection with Shipyard Cleanup

Seven former workers at the shipyard superfund site join together to warn the public about a radioactive cover up by the government contractor in charge of the cleanup, and call on federal regulators to revoke the company’s license.

A petition filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Thursday paints the most comprehensive picture to date of alleged fraud involving the cleanup of the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco.

Greenaction, an environmental group headquartered near Hunters Point, submitted a formal request with the NRC to revoke the license of the federal contractor hired to clean up radioactive contamination at the shipyard. The complaint alleges that the company – Tetra Tech – engaged in “intentional fraud, greed and disregard for public health and safety.”
