DEC reviewing 22 Nassau sites for radioactive materials The Island Now (NY) July 27, 2017 The state Department of Environmental Conservation is examining whether radioactive materials were used at 22 sites in Nassau County, officials said this week. The sites are among 43 across Long Island where the department is working to determine whether radioactive materials were released into the environment, a DEC spokesman said.
