Congress funds groundwater work at Whidbey base By SC News staff Citizen Tribune (WA) September 28, 2017 A bipartisan provision to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was secured Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C., that bolsters environmental restoration funding for both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Senators Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV) and Bob Casey (D-PA) co-sponsored the bipartisan provision that dedicates nearly $62 million towards water remediation and environmental restoration in communities that have suffered groundwater contamination due to their proximity to military installations, including three in Washington state.
