Navy & Marine Corps hold open house in Atlantic for water testing WITN (NC) November 8, 2017 CARTERET COUNTY, NC (WITN) The Navy and Marine Corps are taking precautionary measures and offering to test private drinking water wells near the Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field in Carteret County. The Navy is making sure water supplies were not contaminated after past firefighting operations near the landing field in Atlantic. In a public meeting Wednesday, officials explained the sampling process and answered questions from the public about the specific chemicals they're looking for.
